Stephanie Says…

Hi! My name is Stephanie and I have a lot to say! I use a lot more words than necessary and sometimes I can’t think of a simple word, like green. Maybe I’m not that bad ALL the time, but if you know me, you have definitely seen me snap my fingers, look up and say “what’s the word?” Lucky for you, this is a blog post, so you don’t have to wait on me to sort through all the wrong words to get to the perfect one. I really enjoy writing, but I don’t do it enough (unless you count texting, I text A LOT). I also have a lot of information that I have acquired over the past 18 years of my career that I think will be helpful to my clients, friends and even family members who aren’t tired of listening to me. (question-how do you even communicate without emojis??) So, I have decided to set aside the time to share my knowledge and flex that creative muscle of the mind.

What’s with the name? It’s better than Betsy Says! But seriously, my clients have shared with me that they say to their spouse “Stephanie says”, usually in relation to a design decision they are in favor of. Example: Stephanie says I can have a yellow hutch in my kitchen. Stephanie says my 30 year old leather recliner is perfect right where it is. Which one would you say is a lie? (insert shrug emoji). I love that my clients trust me to create a space that will serve as a backdrop for all of the future life events happening in their home! One of my favorite things about being a designer is watching people live in their space after the design process. Not in a creepy way…like on FB where I get to see their new grand baby sitting in the perfect chair, their pictures of game nights with friends and family using the breakfast table that was specifically chosen for that purpose or the extended formal dining table decorated for the holidays, surrounded by all their favorite people. These are the moments I design for.

I am so grateful that I get to be a designer and meet amazing people who become lifelong friends! I love coming up with creative solutions to unique design dilemmas (and working with contractors who embrace creative solutions). I enjoy learning about all the new technology, products and trends and applying them to my adventurous clients’ projects. I also really love old architecture, furnishings and accessories with character that tell a story or evoke an emotion. Those moments are so important in a design. These are the types of things I like to talk about and what I plan to write about on a regular basis. I want you to read and be inspired by these posts, so I need your help. Tell me what you want to know! Leave me a comment and I’ll do my best to follow-up with a well-thought out and probably a little sarcastic post. Sounds like fun to me. Welcome to “Stephanie says”!
